A Day of Samurai Heritage and Japanese Gastronomy in Shogi Town Tendo.
The history of Tendo’s shogi (Japanese chess) pieces dates back to a time when samurai warriors began making shogi pieces as an inside job.
In this tour, you can actually experience the traditional writing of these pieces, which still continues to this day, and also experience Tendo’s food culture, including soba (buckwheat noodles) and sake (Japanese sake), which samurai and locals loved.
The tour will also include a visit to the Ryuo Room of the Takinoyu Hotel, which has rooms reserved exclusively for the “Ryuo-sen,” the most prestigious title game in Japan.
